About me

I am an award-winning health writer and journalist with many years’ experience of writing features for UK national newspapers and magazines including The Times, the Daily Express, The Daily Mail and The Daily Telegraph.

I was shortlisted for the Excellence in Oncology journalism award in 2009. In 2007, my feature ‘Striking at the Heart of the Young’ on sudden death from heart disease in young people, was runner up in the Consumer Feature section of the Guild of Health Writers Awards. In 2006 I was named Health Journalist of the Year by the Patients’ Association and in 2004 I won the National Society for Epilepsy’s Journalist of the Year award.

In addition to my journalism, I have written consumer information materials for Government departments and others, and carried out press office work for charities and NGOs.

Over the past few years, I have developed my media training skills, placing the emphasis on how communications teams can deliver what health journalists really want.

I am vice-president and former chair of the Guild of Health Writers, registered with the Media Trust, and a judge for the National Society for Epilepsy Journalist of the Year Awards.
